Thiel Fellowship Application

Things I usually get asked that you should know about

What do I need to enter to the Fellowship?

You need to be under 22 years old, not have completed any academic degree, have an idea with which you want to revolutionize the world (or a startup in action), a lot of energy and desire to connect with the most interesting people you will meet in your life. And also be aware that if you are accepted, you will not be able to study for the next 2 years, so you must love what you do at all times, this is to focus on what you are passionate about.

How to apply?

Enter here, fill the application, and you’re done!

What’s the process?

  1. Fill the application.
  2. Depending the time you applied you will receive (or not) and email, letting you know if you’re part of the interviews.
  3. Be interviewed by other Thiel Fellows from past classes.
  4. And that’s all!

How to answer the application?

My tip is usually the same:
Be completely sincere, and passionate about what you say, try to put who you are and why what you do is what is going to change the world (or is changing it) in your day to day life.

The important thing is that they know you, and why this is your great passion and you could dedicate the following years to develop it.

From my perspective is to be very clear, concise and avoid developing too much something that can be very simple from the beginning. Keep in mind that thousands of people apply every year and you don’t have a lot of time to go through everything in detail.

I have an idea, but I haven’t executed yet. Can I apply?

YES! The most important here is to show why YOU are capable of making it a reality.

How was my experience applying?

It was so easy to fill out the application that it didn’t take me more than 15 minutes to fill it out, it certainly became something I was so conscious about that it worked.

I had so little time, that I could never give updates on the application, but in case you can, update with specific data the development you have had as the months go by. Remember that you have the whole year to apply.

Tips

Tip 1: Be true to yourself, who you are, what you want to achieve in the world, that will give you clarity at all times of the process.
Tip 2: Show yourself as you are, don’t try to pretend something you are not.
Tip 3: This fellowship is about people (with incredible ideas, yes), but people at the end of the day, REMEMBER THAT.
Tip 4: Enjoy your process, learn from it, grow from it, and in case you don’t stay, just take it as a “no” that brings you closer to the next “yes”.
